Just download a minimal version of Win 11 pro and install that one and your are done.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Regardless of which OS (linux or windows) you choose, and both could be equally good in almost every use case, it's probably a best practice to "clean install" each one.

For Windows, install from ISO, regardless of the seller of your computer; follow up with the usual configuration tasks that are important to you. For me, that is turning off all unnecessary services, telemetry removal, update fine-tuning, and so on.

For Linux, install from ISO, choose your type of install (desktop, server, minimal, dev, etc.); follow up with the usual configuration tasks for your Linux use case.

Rarely does any vendor's (hardware) or OS supplier's "defaults" work for me, nor should you accept them. With a minimum of googling, you can fine-tune each OS.

I use, and like, both of them. With so many smart folks out there using both, you'll be in good company.

you have good free apps with no BS in them   to do a proper clean up in windows, but  to kill completly telemetry is not possible, even on the entreprise version who could go higher in the settings thru GPO etc ..

like the video, you have some tools in windows to remove some stuff

You have tools who work at the ISO level  before installation, you have tons of scripts too, BUT MS  like to play with us ... it is really hard to maintain in some cases

O&O shutup 10
O&O appbuster

Tried this w11 $#%^$   added the  getallisback menu tool,  reverted back to win 10 in the end,  could not stand it anymore   not worth it

Another vista  loll

Why some folk in perfect mental health is still  wasting time on this crap shit OS...

Sometimes you just don’t have a choice. Most of the time I can contain it to a VM, but sometimes (like today when I needed to upgrade firmware on nvme ssds where the manufacturer only provides windows tools), you need it on the metal.

I admire your ignorant advocacy. I was like you for years, but as I grew through industry I increasingly faced software, tools or systems that would only interoperate with windows. I learned to work around most of it, but I also learned that sometimes it’s a necessary evil and slighting people who used it (for whatever reason) was counterproductive.

weeeeellll ..    not as simple as that...  ???

Foremost .. I am not advocating  a single bit...

I have made myself  bad purchase decision choices..  it just happens htat:
- Over the 80s  we had no choices at all  - all gizmos were very closed AND no choices.
- Over the 90s things got worst .. by chance .. DOS became a popular tool..
- several reasons even being a crappy segfault mania DOS leverage a business
- needless to say such business made a fortune - we all know: defective by design model
- a fast pace plethora of gizmos full of bugs even though you had some tools to work with

- But then.. WOAH..! then over the 00s  a LOT of clever folks sick with that defective by design and certified only works with...  business  got to the point to manage ALTERNATIVES.

So...  sooooooooooooo   since the 00s.. 2010s .. making bad purchase decisions became possibly avoided...

You just made a bad purchase decision - got stuck with a product that is defective by design and only works with...   I made that couple of times..

And last... not least...   THE upgraded  buz model  cited above was leveraged by so called CLOUD now to the present 2020s.

We all know that CLOUD is someone's else RACK... indeed..

I got last month some devices that just require CLOUD to work.. they do not even configure without it..

after 2 days of failures I just flushed them in the latrine...

UC even alternatives are now compromised..

but i am doing more research to NOT  purchase SHITTY gizmos...

100% of telemetry removal is achievable ... well, 99%, because as fast as we plug one hole, MS opens another (with an update). But, with all the smart folks out there working the telemetry thing over, I was able to turn off telemetry on PRO & ENTERPRISE versions. Simple googling found the items that needed cfg. Hit something "greyed out" in windows? Get around it in Powershell.

I don't mess with HOME, as that is for the masses ... but probably easy to do there as well.

Done.

Start menu ... one freeware app, and the start menu is mine again, with no problems under Win10 or Win11.

Done.

MS Store, Cloud/subscription, $$$ apps ... all easily turned off, avoided, and replaced with free apps of comparable quality.

Done.

Don't want updates of any kind, at any time? Turn them off, and scan on your own schedule.

Done.

Same with linux ... a bit of work, and the OS is back to being mine. Github is your friend, along with various websites where smart folks work this magic, depending on your problem.

I don't fault MS for doing what they do, as they have to handhold for the masses ... I don't mind the heavy-handed marketing, because that can be avoided as well.

I used to worry that I couldn't do things the way I wanted with each version of an OS, from DOS onward, but I've come to realize that there are just as many smart folks on the opposite side, and something MS has done for the masses can be worked around for those with the ability to do some digging.

A new OS, with another twist in the way of doing something? Just another brief challenge, usually defeated before I even became aware of the problem.

I haven't used Windows on any of my PCs for 8 years this year. I am very glad after seeing Windows 11 on a customer's laptop. My god the amount of crap it comes with. And they wondered why their laptop was slow.  :palm:

I originally switched to Ubuntu 12.04, but it became laggy and slow by 16.04 So I switched to OpenSUSE which I found better but then Ubuntu 20.04 came out which fixed many of the issues I experienced so I switched back.

Then I was introduced to Linux Mint. So much better than Ubuntu. Faster, smaller and everything just works out of the box including media codecs and DVD playback. And the Arduino IDE package isn't several years out of date like on Ubuntu which is nice!

its amazing how people are capable or incapable of... all the answers for your question are already in the video. and BradC gave you answer exactly what i have in mind, so no need to repeat... with all the hate bashing parties popping out everytime a new Windows is released, its still number one in Desktop, havent you wondered why?

My god the amount of crap it comes with. And they wondered why their laptop was slow.  :palm:
those craps that you dont usually find in Mac or Linux are softwares cramped together by seller so any buyer will be happy when they find the softwares they wanted are in there. the catch is bloatness, coupled with minimal HW (usually RAM) spec, just enough to barely run Windows, to reduce the cost and make it competetive, just because customers love cheap items. so then, we learn to customize our own machine, do our own clean install and put SW that we only need, upgrade the HW to max we can afford etc, much like a Linux guy will do, except we have unlimited HW/drivers compatibilities and combinations and softwares availability just as the video stated... if those noobs laptop users who wondered why their HW is slow are given a bare Linux OS inside that laptop, they will be so much more fucked up guaranteed, unless they have a guts to learn all the stuffs.

I recently installed Win 11 and was amazed at the Microsoft interrogation of me before it would install !
MS insist on a MS user account.

I have heard you can avoid a lot of it if you unplug internet before installing.

then create the account, its free. android phones require us to create a google account nobody's complaining, but when windows do it....  :scared::scared::scared:

In my case it is really a deep despise  and hate for bad ethics and crippled products .. but that is result of 40y dealing w MS assholes..

But TODAY everybody can ditch that mediocre OS from the 90s and avoid such comfy bad purchase decision

I think most people just got trapped by inertia or lack of will.   There are literally 100 choices..  my 7y old nephew is using linux.. he can do anything with an icon...  upgrade kernel..  shity firewalls... anything... barely he can read.. hehehe

The idea of user to be able to disable the Windows telemetry completely (100%) is delusional, period.

Annoyed by the telemetry ? Stop using Windows, or go totally disconnected/offlined "AND ALL THE TIME".

You (we)  are not dealing with mindless business men...

They have an anticipated agenda to PREVENT and lock their product in retailer OEMs

https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Lenovo-Pluton-Windows-Default

It is already in progress and once this obscene processor  for such  arguably useless and biased security is in place...  well ...  their business will be  locked by retailer...

There is only one solution:  DON'T  BUY ANY OEM CRIPPLED SHIT by MS  period

Ditch these assholes for good. They will not allow any other alternative besides being the exclusive digital landlords..  they are doing this very same thing for decades.. it is naive to assume different

O&O shutup 10
O&O appbuster

Both tools work fine for WIn10 and 11. And I recommend to run O&O ShutUp10 after each update orgy to check if MS did reset some settings back to the user-unfriendly defaults (the tool will show you what has changed since the last run).

go totally disconnected/offlined "AND ALL THE TIME".

This isn't that difficult if you control the network. It's a piece of cake to stop Windows accessing the world outside, and preventing it from recursive DNS lookups. Do that and you still have access to your local network.

You can even use something like firefox with a local proxy config to get "net" without letting Windows see the outside world.

That also keeps all your applications from phoning home. It's incredible the amount of dns lookups Windows, Office and Autodesk products make when you actually log and analyse them.
