Hmm, I don't think you get it.
Imagine you have a room full of computers, setup on your own little private network, network shares and whatever.
Zerotier/Tailscale/Hamachi/etc.. allow you to move those devices to anywhere on the planet (with a net connection) and still have them setup on your same little private network. Now, you could setup OpenVPN (or some other VPN) like that using a central server, but all traffic would have to go through that central server, which adds a delay. These new methods allow peer-peer for faster response (although one central rendezvous server is still required to share addresses/instigate udp hole punching or whatever).
