PC upgrade.
« on: April 14, 2023, 03:19:39 pm »
My pc has been getting hot and running out of room on the SSD.
So bought a bigger fan and 1TB SSD.
Of course fan came with no instructions and had multiple parts some used on different models.
By this time PC was in bits so no use looking online.
SO guessed at how fan mountings went.
Of course got mounting bracket inverted and heatsink screws wouldnt reach it.
Then dropped nut under an ssd and had to remove ssd to get nut back.
Eventually got it all to fit.
SSD was an easy swap.
Had a quick look at old stock cooler and it was completely clogged with dust so no wonder cpu had been cooking.
Eventually got the pc back together but then 5 hours reinstalling software and Windows.

Did a cinebench test and cpu didnt get over 45 degrees C so a good fix.
