Retrieving data from old SIM cards.

(1/2) > >>

Ed.Kloonk:
I have a number of old sim cards which contain some old TXT messages I'd like to keep for posterity, but not necessarily the SIM cards themselves.

Some chips contain old contact lists also. I would like to extract as much as I can from all of them in one go.

I have a 4 year old Samsung galaxy that I can use as a reader.

Wondering if there is way to dump all the info into a readable text file. Or would it better or possible to capture the whole data raw so to speak?

Apparently, SIM card readers are a thing: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=sim+card+reader

SeanB:
Put card in phone, and get from the play store a backup application, and use it to make an XML file of the SIM contents, and then get that blob off the phone and read it.

Otherwise restore all of the blobs to the phone, and make a single new one off this. There are plenty of apps that are designed to transfer SIM content from one phone to the new phone, and just look for one with reasonable ratings, no adverse comments in the reviews and it probably is ad supported, so ignore the ads, and uninstall after use.
