Doubt pad sponge for enclosure case hdd 2.5"
« on: October 13, 2024, 10:11:58 am »
Does the sponge for the enclosure case cause pressure damage to the flat cables of 2.5" HDDs? I have an Orico 25pw1 enclosure case + 2.5" Seagate ST500LM030 HDD. This enclosure case contains a sponge, I think it's EVA, to stick to the lower central part of the case and it would be in direct contact with the flat cable of this HDD. When closing the top cover of the case, will the sponge cause pressure and long-term damage to the flat cable or not?

No. You should try to get over your obsession.

:horse: The above spam has been already detected in another topic of this user.  :horse:

And the photos they take are actually not their. In all topics they just attach photos randomly copied from places like Amazon or Newegg.

(yes, already reported to moderators too)

Either a bot or someone with serious TOC about HDDs.

... or someone with serious TOC about HDDs.

We get them occasionally. Batteries and capacitors come to mind. They don't remain for long.

If it looks like a troublemaker, swims like a troublemaker, and quacks like a troublemaker, then it probably is a troublemaker.

Ignoring any suspicions we may hold, to me it’s clear that all traceable activity shows naïve egoism with not even a sign of self-reflection or respect for others. And to me it is enough. Language barrier, being a teenager, having obsessions — with enough good will on both ends this can be overcame. Being a prick can not. :(

Either a bot or someone with serious TOC about HDDs.
His latest post suggests he is too impolite to be a bot. Probably as others have guessed, a real human with either mental issues or one trying to build up enough posts/reputation to post actual spam.

Thread titles that start with "doubt" may warrant closer scrutiny of the user starting them.

And on the technical side - no, it does not matter. The cable is glued to the HDD case and will not deform.
I assume the foam will dampen the noise and vibration a bit, the HDD will be fine (if the case can handle the pressure).
Btw. "in former times" there were 2.5" drives with attached foam for dampening (that was done by the laptop manufacturers).

amyk: Didn’t one English classic write that?
Doubt thou the pad sponge,
Doubt that enclosure doth encase,
Doubt truth to be a HDD,
But never doubt my 2.5"

Weird language use is often a sign of a language barrier. It wouldn’t be prudent to let a single troublemaker make us get prejudiced against non-native speakers, would it?
