iPhone Text Message Software Company Warning
« on: January 10, 2024, 02:17:29 am »
Some years back I used iExplorer by Macroplant to transfer my iPhone text messages to PDF. I was somewhat pleased with the software as it did exactly what I wanted.

Recently I purchased their latest version (v14 I believe) to perform the same tasks. Upon using it, I noticed it didn't detect initial text messages that were started in a thread. Initially I thought maybe it was due to length of the thread and it was getting truncated, or that they were combined from an old iPhone when I purchased my new version phone, so the format was different.

I looked at one thread that I started just a few weeks ago with someone (not more than maybe fifty text messages), who also has an iPhone, and it too was missing the beginning text messages we exchanged; also, all of the photos exchanged were showing as just blank squares. Seeing how the first few (or several) text messages were missing, I lost faith in all the text messages transferring correctly.

The company offers a 30-day, 100% refund, however, as of today (1/9) they didn't respond to the three emails I sent, they don't list a phone number, and, unfortunately I paid with a debit card, so my bank isn't able to go after them.

While this is poor business practices, I wanted to send a warning to anyone who may be interested in transferring their iPhone stuff so they don't get ripped off as well by purchasing their software.

Thankfully it was only $39.99 I lost, but, it's obviously the principle along with them being able to continue making an income from other customer purchases without supporting their software or honoring their guarantee.

Just a quick update.

I found their number on Google (it's not on their website) and called. Nobody answered, instructed me to leave a voicemail, left a voicemail including my email address, and no call back.

Horrible way to do business.
