Hello my name Is Justin I have been part of the chat for about 1 year now and I am just joining the forum. I live in a town of ~110,000 people (Missoula MT USA). I first picked up a soldering iron to make an altoids tin audio amp for a in car DVD player at about 10 years old, but long before that at 3 years old is when I first disassembled something to learn how it worked, then at about 5 or 6 years old I got into computers taking the old ones Tearing them apart to find out how they work, then I moved into the software end messing around with the settings to se what happens, along with the computers I took apart TV's VCR's vinyl players, and just about anything I could get my hands on. I started wanting to make electronic things an like most of us I started with the 100 in one kits and worked my way forward. I have made remote fireworks ignition systems, In car entertainment systems with a 17" computer monitor, wii, xbox360, dvd player, vcr, also my own computer controlled light display with an FM transmitter, and lots of other stuff. This has all lead me to want to learn more, dig deeper into how stuff works. I will soon be wanting to get better test equipment and such and thought this would be a good time to Join the forum .

I now have a job as a computer tech so if you have a question feel free to ask. I also am a main person in a local to Missoula (for now) program named Laptops For Students (relaptops.org) We take in old or unwanted laptops, fix them up, put an OS and a Microsoft Office compatible program on them, and give them away for free to local students

I can code in HTML (website code) but not anything else but looking to change that .

Did not know about this thread so I'll post since I'm still new

I'm a musician at heart, programmer in mind, I love to cook and I'm currently challenged by learning electronics "for real".
I got started in circuit bending when I was little (modding RC cars to create remote pannable fans etc) but it dabbed off as I got into robotics via Lego Mindstorms.
In 2009 I was a regular contributor to the Arduino community (AlphaBeta on forums, and I have about 40 libraries for hardware abstraction).

Now I'm a core member of Wiring (I switched camps when I learned about the history between the two).
I work for http://wice.no as CTO and the only developer (both hardware and software).

I'm thrilled that I've discovered yet another passion in electronics!
Eevblog has been one of the reasons I still use youtube for about two years.

Hi, I'm David, originally from the UK but now living in Los Angeles. In my day job, I'm a software engineer and have been for 30 years. I started doing hobbyist electronics as a teenager in the 70s, graduated in EE, and worked initially as a hardware designer on embedded systems, before somehow switching to software. I returned to playing with circuits recently as a hobby with more engineering skills and disposable income than I had in the 70s, but much less ability to see teeny tiny components. Hi, pre retired Swede here.
Broad spectrum of knowledge but barely any in the form of a degree, I consider those something our society enforce as a means to uphold inequality and self esteem among the population, but because of my of state I suppose I am somewhat biased. Personally have a firm belief that anyone can accomplish anything as long as they have enough interest and motivation in doing so with or without academic merits. I do enjoy self studies for this reason, mainly because my ventures into the academic field taught me to absolutely loathe knowledge that has no real world application like just learning something to move on and then forget it. But I find myself in the constant struggle of keeping an open mind and keep up with new stuff.

Was an aspiring electrician twice, got dismissed because I was too through and neat in the field, which is strange in it's own way.
I suppose I'll attempt to grab a degree in EE at some point, but the real reason for that would be to have an excuse to hang out with people afk, which I seldom do.

Spending my days doing stuff I find enjoyable which boils down to hacking, repurposing stuff, dumpster diving, various research and building stuff. Also play acoustic guitar since 13 years back, I guess that the latter is my only real merit even though I barely took any classes there either.

I guess at the time of writing, I'm also looking for a date. But finding a suitable matching and attractive exterior combined with a geeky personality in a female is indefinitely small value like /0, which I believe at least some should be able to confirm, lol. Social science is a whole other area.

Makes me look forward to androids which undoubtedly has to be like the holy grail of technology and porn.

Bass guitar, woodworking, ham radio.  New personal project - development of a large scale logic analyzer, inspired by Intronix Logicport, nice unit, but only 34 channels, and the software can be not so intuitive.  I came here by purposeful accident, a search for reviews on Rigol digital scopes, and looked a a great forum to be a part of.

I am 25 Years old. and I'm finishing my graduation in computer engineering. Right now I am doing the course internship. I'm an electronics and embedded systems hobbyist. Got most of this passion after completing the UTexas Embedded systems course from edX and, of course seeing those videos made by that crazy aussie bloke...  O0
Right now I'm restoring an old HP 180AR oscilloscope. Hope make it work or else...  It would be a very valuable tool if I want to get into embedded systems into the next level.

Actually, i've been affected by the electronics disease when i was in 11 years old, i started tear down electronics stuff that were belonging to my Father, and When I was in 17 years old, there was nothing left (electronic devices) working properly in my home, the reason it was; i've been already disassemble it ..., so, now i'm here trying to find out what can i gain from your brilliant experiences,,,, to stop tear down things and start build useful things...lol

My name is Raymond, I live in Ohio (USA).  I'm a 45 year old with an AAS degree. I work as a field engineer (read: glorified technician  ) but have several years working as an engineering tech since graduating in 1996.  Family and life happened before I was able to finish my BS.  Was about 3 years into my BS or my EE degree.

I'm wanting go get back into electronics and projects as a hobby.  I love designing and building, testing and repairing circuits.  I have designed some basic test equipment for our field service organization, but my primary job today is troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues on our equipment.  I also work close with the Engineering team in regards to service documentation and service readiness on new equipment.  It really sound much better than what it is..lol 

I know enough to get me into trouble, as well as the best way to get out of it....usually

Hi, names Simon am 47 and live in SW Scotland.

Served a 4 year MOD electrical and electronic apprenticeship 85-89 then spent the next 16 years working on torpedos .
Left the MOD and have been working on access equipment ever since.

My hobbies get me into a lot of trouble, mainly with my wife and they include restoring vintage plant and machinery, mainly generators, engines and tractors. Building my offroader which is a mil spec Chevy Blazer M1009 hence the user name. Stock car racing, check out racewall on youtube, and playing with 11 meter radios, CB's to most people.

I'm just setting up my radio shack and hideaway now the kids have all moved out and we have room again
