Also, I plan to purchase a Rigol MSO2072A, and hack/upgrade it via JTAG memory dump. Is there any reason I should be dissuaded from this?

Shipping for an 1054z is $69 according to them, Import tax is 0%, but VAT is 23%.
So the $399 + $69 = $468, now the $468 + $108 (23% VAT) = $576.
If the cupon is -6%, $576 - $34.55 ( -6% ) = $542 = 542€ at today currency

I'm think that Batronix should be lower, price is 403€ free shipping in EU.

You might want to compare Batronix to Batterfly in Italy, as they're selling the DS1054Z for 327.95EUR + free shipping to Europe + VAT. So w/ a VAT rate of 23%, the total would be 403.38EUR. 

They also have bundle deals with an FX-888D or Saleae Logic 4 as well, for those interested (links on DS1054Z page ^).

Thanks, I've forgot about Batter Fly in Italy.

I've just run an simulation for the 1054Z, and it give me 400.10€.

In Italy the VAT is 22%, so 327.95 + 72.15 (22% VAT) = 400.10€, so 3.28€ less than in Batronix.

Both of the stores offer free shipping inside EU, but Batter Fly offers in everything over 400€, and Batronix only in certain products.

Both simulations where made with Portugal as the destination country.

FWIW, tme.eu may be of interest as well (they carry a lot of stuff from consumables to tools to T&M gear at decent prices; best source in the EU for Brymen DMM's AFAIK).

Even with second hand gear it's pretty expensive to buy in US, if you buy for e.g. a meter like the 34401 for parts for $100, most of the shipping that I've seen it's around $80, so $180 for the hole package.

At today currency $160 = 158.50€.

With 158.50€ at the customs I've to pay, 9€ fix tax for opening the package + 23% VAT.

So 158.50€ + 9€ = 167.50 + 23% = 206€ at today currency equals $234.30 for one for parts meter.

So here is price of equipment + price of shipping + 9€ fix tax of opening the package at customs + 23% VAT = final price

Sometimes customs ask for the invoice or the payment from PayPal to see how much it real cost, so sometimes I split payments on PayPal.

So no free lunch on this side of the pound, and another thing is the second hand gear, much less than in US.
