But "apelly" promised to make a JTAG memory dump on his DS2072A once he receives his Bus Blaster.
Still no sign of it. Allegedly shipped on the 4th Dec., but the tracking number doesn't work. WTF? Will give it a few more days before I follow up.
The postal service has slowed to a crawl, i have a TFT breakout board in the mail shipped from melb on the 9th, ETA is 23rd to January  ::)

what the chinese developers understand about German.   ;D

Bier!! und Schnitzel!!!   :-+  JA!!!

Re the 50-Ohm termination and not being able to enable it... Isn't it a standard feature of the "A" model?

It is a little over 300 MHz measured with HP 8642A generator with BNC cable and 50 Ohm feed through terminator. Scope is DS2202 wiith HW1 and 300M option.

In the picture is sweep from 1 MHz to 350 MHz. Sweep time is 14 s, so one horisontal craticule division is 25 MHz. Cursor lines show the 3 dB levels.

Nice. Have you measured the 3 dB cutoff frequency?

It was about 240 MHz before updates.

Hello!
I am a German amateur radio guy (Ham) and I am looking for a new DSO. For home use.

Now I am in the conflict to go for a 2072 2172A-S.

Generally, I was going to buy a 2072 and "extend" the device with this information of this board here...
For me are important:
- 200 MHz
- More memory for storage
- UART decoding

As far as I understood, the A Version can not be "extended" by simple use the codes of the well know page?
I have the doubt that the new version is more protected as the old one.

However the A versions are able to have a 50 Ohm input and a signal generator. Two nice features.
What I not understand: Suppose I am buying a 2072 and extend it by using these codes of the page. Would it still function with a 2.0 Firmware version?

The next problem is to get a 2072 without A NOW. I am thinking perhaps Conrad.de would have it on stock.

(My wife wants to buy the DSO for my as a Christmas gift. - so I have to decide quick...

 What are your suggestions?
Thank you very much!!

look one page back, yesterday i sucessfully unlocked my DS2072 (HW2.0) together with the new firmware (0.2). (Decode incl. CAN, Memory, Trigger, 300MHz).

Sure, 50Ohms is a nice feature, but at the moment i would go for the DS2072 or wait some time until the A Version is unlocked. Nobody knows these days, if this will be possible at all.
Signal Generator is a usefull thing, but you still have to pay some euros extra for that. Maybe you better go for the DG1022 or Siglent SDG10xx Generators instead, brings you the advantage of an extra device. As a Ham radio guy you may prefer a signal generator with more output frequency at sine wave (go for a sine wave generator), so you may don't need the arbitrary functions. It depends on your needs.

Batronix has the DS2072 still on stock, the bigger problem should be to get the A Version on stock at this moment i guess.

Let's change our wifes...    :P
My english is VERY poor, sorry. I learned in school, about more than 55 years ago.

But I'am a happy owner of Rigol DSA815-TG with all options + DS2302 (was DS2072) + DG4202 (was DG4062)
Mega thanks to the developers of the key-generator ! Especially to CYBERNET with his brilliant brain !

Nobody knows these days, if this will be possible at all.

It is highly unlikely to me that it won't be possible, once a firmware dump is obtained.  Same hardware, same firmware for both DS2XXX and DS2XXX-A models.

Any of you with -A models that know how to dump via JTAG should probably get a move on if you want to see the hack completed.

Hello!
Does anyone knows a company who has the DS2072 without A on stock in Europe and is able to deliver to Germany?
I have called Batronix, Conrad and so one and no one has the Version without A on stock any more.
It looks like many devices has been sold the last week...
Thanks for replay!

conrad.nl has some in stock : http://www.conrad.nl/ce/nl/product/409743/

I'm not sure if they'll deliver to Germany (but their warehouse is in the south of Germany already! weirdness.)

I just looked on conrad.de, and they also have them in stock? sofort lieferbar.

You might also try Petr Šmíd: info@silcon.cz - www.silcon.cz (he is member Drieg on this forum). I don't know, but maybe he still has non-A in stock. He delivers throughout EU.

very interesting, i just had a quick look at their shop which still says DS2072 on stock. Maybe they think it is okay to ship the newer DS2072A instead, but at the moment this makes a huge difference  |O
Edit: Conrad changed this information today, DS2072 out of stock, DS2072A shipping...

BUT this is not the thread for shipping discussion.

Thanks, EV! So it appears 300MHz BW option is functional for HW v.1 owners. I wonder why Rigol didn't sell 300MHz DS2000s from the beginning?

Maybe it is too near to 300 MHz as for example it is about 240 MHz for DS2202 with  200 MHz BW.

True - perhaps it's closer to 350MHz on HW v.2 DSOs. Anyway, as long as you know the limits...

@EV: BTW, did you run the self-calibration after installing the 300MHz option (or before running the sweep)?

No,  I run the calibration and then the sweep again. Wait a moment!

I can not be totally sure, but I think that the input stages are the same in both versions (except for 50ohm and associated relay).

I rectified, there are some more changes:

Someone can take a better picture of the input stage for the HW.v2.0?

Then it seems even more illogical that they didn't sell a 300MHz version DS2000 a year and a half ago - unless it was only because of the lack of 50 Ohm input.

EDIT: BTW, the image you posted is only HW v.2 - we don't know for certain that A-models don't have a slightly more-modified input stage.

True.
Someone can take a better picture of the DS2xxxA's input stage?    Apelly for example.
