A shipment from Franky arrived today. Ordered on the 30th, shipped on the 31th, arrived on the 8th. That's very fast for free shipping from .hk to .ch, thanks.

A question for Franky: can I pick up some items from you in person? I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong in the fall, and when carrying stuff myself, Switzerland's tax free limit is much higher (approx. $330) than when sending items by postal service (approx. $71.)

Yes, absolutely. You can probably pick it up directly from my lab/shop. Another fellow forum member, Wytnucls, did just that last week :) Please send me a note a couple of weeks before though just to make sure I am around. But even if not I can arrange someone to hand you the stuff.

Impressive lab I must say, and a lot tidier than Dave's.  ;)

FWIW, there appears to be a 110V version of this as well, the S-993A. Example listing.

Franky, I have been meaning to drop you a note to say thank you. I received the 2 meter long custom made lead extensions at the beginning of the week. All I can say is thank you, they are exactly what I needed. Now I can actually watch my meter when I'm testing switches, etc at the other end of a machine. Any machine tool service technician would love a set of there. Very well made and nice heavy but supple cable. Your the man!

I'm actually not too sure about that... It's very kind of you to say that though :)

Actually there's no view whatsoever. It's located in an industrial building and my unit has no windows at all :(

Franky, I've recently got a set of leads and I'm very happy with the quality.  I was wondering - do you have anything similar to these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silicone-Test-Leads-50cm-with-Sprung-Hooks-and-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-Red-Black-/200979921195

but with a grabber on the end?  Something like this:

Thanks

In a recent video on Martin's Youtube channel he showcased one that I sent him (at about 11:30):

Notice that they are rather large. They don't connect directly to a wire though, you would connect them to any leads with a shrouded or unshrouded banana plug. I do have a few more of these in stock but just haven't had the time to list them properly. I will likely be pricing them at $13.99 per pair on eBay, 5% off on the forum for direct Paypal deals. I may also allowed them to be bought per piece (either black or red).

Hi Franky, those long grabbers look interesting. How well do they work on screw type terminal strips? I frequently have to check inputs from switches, etc on machines that terminate to long terminal blocks. Sometimes I can bend the crimp terminal up just a bit to grab it with a hook type test lead but I wonder if I can just grab the screw/plate that secures the crimp terminal. They may come in really handy. On modern controls I can just go into the IO tables and watch the bits change, even better but the older control systems are a bit more of a challenge.
Thanks

This type of long grabbers I have been looking for for some time now, we used similar when I was in school around 1986-87, and they also was sized to you used either bananapljugs or hooked them on the multimeter leads.

Can you place sell me some packages? :)

Sorry about the not-so-great quality picture and I don't really any properly crimped wire right here at home so this is the best setup I can do :) Basically the grabber can grab between the screw head (may not work if it's a slot type screw) and the plate if there's enough gap under the plate.

One other thing to note is that the long tube leading to the grabber tip is flexible and allows some bending, as shown in the picture.

How many do you need? I think I only have 4-5 pairs at the moment.

It's funny how some of you always seem to want to find/buy things that I haven't officially started selling yet, but just happen to have a few around :)

I got a set from Franky recently. The soldering of the wires to the clips wasn't too difficult. I tried to be creative and soldered the wires underneath the rubber band, out of sight, for a clean look. Works fine so far.

Very nice touch!    :-+

Two pairs, would like three, but since you only have 4-5..

Thanks Robrenz...some of your pristine refurb pictures are rubbing off.  ;)
Here is a 4W histogram of 10x5.6 Ohm 1/4W 1% resistors on my new Rigol DM3058E with Franky's kelvin clips:

Neat to see a histogram where you can count the 8.4mOhm bins visually.

Do you have any of those nice binding posts that Dave used on the µCurrent Gold?

Thanks.  They are a bit larger than what I was looking for though, perhaps too large for what I would use them for - probing IC pins.  Definately can't use them on smd parts, but they also seem too large for DIP ICs.

Perhaps something like these will work for you? The leads have 1mm square pin sockets on both ends, which can be connected to standard 1mm pin headers.
