220v soldering station
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:36:07 pm »
Hello.

I am looking for 220v soldering station.
At first I first was interested in original hakko fx888 because I saw it is 90$ in the US. Then I discovered it is around 260$ in my country (one official distributor).
I also realized it is hard convert 110v station to 220v.

I think I will buy a Chinese hakko clone. I want it to be compatible with hakko tips, and to be able to set a temperature (actual analog/Digital number, and not only hot/cold).

I saw there are many models of such clones (mainly 936 clone), each have disadvantages - atten, yihua, huakko and many more.

I need it to be cheaper then 75 dollars including shipping from china, because above this figure I will have to pay import taxes.

Which model is recommended?

Also - is there an option to buy a genuine hakko soldering pencil and to attach it to a clone station? Is there a reason to do it?

I will be glad to receive specific ebay links - of a recommended clone station without many issues and with no safety problems, of genuine hakko pencil (if exists and still being sold) and of genuine hakko tips.

Thank you.

He's in Israel most likely (he posted a Google search result and his Google defaulted to the .il tld)

There are two big companies that ship stuff to Israel and they have physical presence in Europe, so shipping will not be that expensive to you.

Farnell has a subsite for Israel here (pointing you directly to soldering stations) :  http://il.farnell.com/soldering-stations_soldering-stations

RS-Online has subsite for Israel here: http://il.rsdelivers.com/catalogue/category/soldering-stations/13109.aspx

Sort both by price and see how much they charge for shipping.  In worst case scenario, you will only have to use an adapter to convert the EU or UK plug to your Israel mains plug (or you cut the cable and just replace the plug)

Some cheap stuff that would be fine (on par with stuff you'd buy from eBay or better, but not up to the same quality as a Hakko) would be the following:

Rebranded Atten 938D : http://il.farnell.com/tenma/21-10115-uk/soldering-station-60w-220v-uk/dp/2064549
Rebranded Atten AT60D: http://il.farnell.com/tenma/at60d-uk/soldering-station-220v-uk/dp/2075393

You can find reviews for these online (on this forum and on youtube) if you search a bit. These accept Atten tips you find on ebay easily, same for spare parts (heating element, handles etc)

Hello.

Thank you very much.

Those TENMA stations - are they compatible with regular hakko tips?
Anyways I will find out how much these stations cost.

Is there any ebay recommended cheap station?
