Any other good EE pod casts?
« on: February 25, 2013, 01:32:37 am »
I've taken to really enjoying the AmpHour on the drive to and from work.  Problem is, that does me for one day a week, and the local radio stations are rubbish IMO.

Anyone got any other suggestions for good pod casts out there relating to EE in general or embedded systems topics?

The "Security Now" podcast with Steve Gibson isn't too awful bad, geared more towards PCs, security, internet, etc.  Like you say, at least it beats listening to the local radio stations.
Problem is I think Steve Gibson's tin foil hat is too tight.  And it too is only once per week.

To the average person, everything he talks about makes it sound like everybody that's connected to the 'net is about to be hacked, everything everybody owns is about to fail, and everything he's developed is the greatest thing since sliced bread (e.g. The Portable Dog Killer, SpinRite, Shields Up!, etc.).
To the person that might know a thing or two about a couple handfuls of things or two, that same stuff is generally ho-hum and known to the community as a whole.
I didn't take it apart.
I turned it on.

The only stupid question is, well, most of them...

Save a fuse...Blow an electrician.

I have been monitoring http://thesignalpath.com/blogs/ and has been a great refresher for much of the technology I was used to before I started my business. It has a Youtube channel.

Seems to be a lot of teardowns with each one but If it does not interest me then I dont watch it.

Still can't beat Dave for some real practical advice though.

Yeah I also enjoy the signalpath blog, but I'm more looking for audio podcasts to fill up my daily drive...

I don't know about entertainment purposed podcasts, but I find iTunesU (University) to be quite good if you are just looking to educate yourself. I'm taking a course over edX right now on electromagnetism, and all of the lectures and problem solutions are on there for me to watch on my iPad. Give it a try some time.
