Recommended relative humidity in electronic lab
« on: March 25, 2014, 03:28:55 pm »
Hi!

Well this one is relatively important thematic.

What is recommended relative humidity for electronic equipment/lab/el. components?
In my lab at this moment is about 50%, during summer is about 65%, even little bit more.

Thank you!

The funniest thing about this signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything its too late to stop reading it.

Maybe, but that can only be possible if using dehumidifier.

This depends largely on what the lab requirements are and what needs to be measured

I have one customer that needs highly accurate high voltage measurements and the equipment
is located in an air conditioned room.
This way, we can achieve a better than +/- 0.5 kV accuracy over a one year period of 40 kV Pk/Pk

An other client does not have any control over his room temperature or humidity.
Winter time down to 18°C and Summer time up to 35°C
Under these conditions, we can not even hold +/- 4 kV accuracy over a one year period of 40 kV Pk/Pk
So we need to calibrate the equipment once a month or when the temperature or humidity changes big time.
