The orientation of the shade is in a way, that it does not take much to essentially turn off 2 whole modules. It only take a 2 cm wide shade horizontally across the module to essentially take that module out of operation. The problem is a bit in the way the cells are gouped for the bypass doide. That one is more suited for a vertical shadow coming  from the side and maybe shadow the left or right half.
