U-stream uses Flash though, not Java/JavaScript. It works on most computers, even Linux (which I am on) but the chat is funky though (I.e. no cursor). If you only want to watch, I can recommend the U-stream player for smartphone (Android/iOS) which "just works". Also. I have yet to see any ads popping up there!

Congrats to the winner!

Congrats winner!

I was secretly hoping to get my name over there, but I would most likely not survive the last test you did, seeing that I have only so little posts.

Well, I am really quite happy right about now.  ;D
Can't wait to do the drop tests!

In all seriousness though, thanks guys. Aside from my scope, this is the most expensive bit of equipment I'll have for quite a while.

Fixed a TV this week as well, dying Nichicon capacitor, 1000uF 25V, datecoded 93........ Easy to find, turned on the TV, connected a video source ( it is used as a monitor) and it worked perfectly ( fault is sync tearing when on) so left it for 3 hours, then turned off and unplugged, and looked for warm caps. Found this one next to one I had done a few months before, it was rather toasty, getting warmed up from a power resistor next to it. Looked for a suitable replacement and found it on an old pay TV receiver, nice newish looking 1000uF 35V, a little taller but still looking good. Tested, and capacitance was close to nominal, ESR was under 0.2 ohm, as opposed to the old one having 200uF capacitance and an ESR of around 100R. Popped it in, turned it on and all working again. Closed it up ( left speaker disconnected, never used and has a buzz) and put it back on the table to sit and burn a nice image again into the tube.

hmm,  newer thought finding fault that way, thanks for info, wheter it was your purpose or not :). my other monitor under repair is bit tricky, turns off after being on couple of seconds :S. and one audio amp is too under repair, burned out, killing my subwoofer along it -_-.

Congratulations Shiftplusone!

As for the comment Dave made about the number of posts required to enter. I think they way it was done is good enough. If you make say a 50 post minimum then there will be people that make 50 spam posts. 5 is good as he checked to make sure they were not spam. The "being a member for x amount of time" has merit. But if you go that route make sure that the member not only has been a member for the time but has actively been posting the whole time and not just posting when a contest is announced.

Congrats ShiftPlusOne, a worthy winner. There's no perfect set of rules for entry to a competition like this but fortunately the eventual winner was uncontrovertial. And another vote for more competitions - they are fun even when your not the winner!!

The "IAmNotASpamBot" annoyance goes away with time, as you are deemed to be at least Human.  Annoy the mods a lot ( Hi Simon and GeoffS) or TheGodDaveHimself and the problem will be solved permanently.
