Rigol Teardown Video TAKEN DOWN
« on: November 25, 2015, 09:26:56 pm »
Just woke up to find my latst #823 Rigol teardown video has been taken down.
I cannot even get into my Youtube account without hitting acknowledge.
First time this has happened, what do I do now?
How do I find out why it was taken down? (I have an idea why and by whom)
Although it does mention spam and links to this page:
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801973
So presumably that's the reasons why? If so it has to be an automated flagging mistake.
Should I hit "Acknowledge"?

I don't like the wording of that with the Acknowledge button. Don't click, contact them.

I bet it's the troll of Christmas past... We all know who it is  :palm:

Maybe Rigol forgot to blacktop/remark their FPGA/DACs in this one... Wouldn't want their competition finding out what off the shelf parts they use!

I honestly don't even know how to contact them.
Might see if I can dig up a direct Youtube contact out of the archives.

Can't see a problem with the acknowledge button - just indicating that you've read it.

That's stupid. There was nothing bad (reputation-wise) in that teardown.

I wonder how many votes from the "community" are required to do that to a channel.

I'm pretty sure that if Sagan accidentally bashed the keyboard/mouse and clicked the Acknowledge button then it will not stand up in a court of law that you acknowledge anything.

ETA: Also why is EEVBlog so slow right now? Is there a DOS attack starting up? Someone lost his mojo again?

I wonder if it was something as stupid as a false spam detection of multiple copies of the same content based on multiple matches of "rigol teardown"

No, I don't think it could be that. There are many channels that have multiple videos with similar titles.

From what I have seen to date, the marketing guys at Rigol are smart enought to not pull a move like this. But you never know. I would contact youtube no matter what, becuaee you need to learn what it was in the video that actually broke their rules, as it was clearly nothing obvious... For all you know you might unwillingly do it againand get yet another strike...

I didn't get a chance to see the video, was there anything at all that someone could mistake for misleading or scammy words?  I wouldn't mind seeing it if a mirror exists (I haven't had a chance to watch this one myself).

Dave -- I sent you a PM on the issue; can you take a look at it if you have a chance.

Yeap, up again!
But someone made a good point abot Dailymotion before.

Dave, are you continuing to upload there as an alternative, or do they automatically pull it for you?

Awesome! Now I can finish watching it. Dave, anything new on the reason why it was pulled in the first place?

I was just thinking: Has Dave mentioned Dailymotion or and other Youtube competitors in the video?
What about these new "rules" Youtube laid out for content producers?
Wasn't there something basically like "Do not mention non-Youtube support networks" like Patreaon &Co
Or "Do not put your own advertising breaks into your videos" etc.

Maybe some minion at the youtube video reviewing department didn't get what was going on in the video and therefore hit the wrong button :palm:
All this could be a wakeup call to see if other video platforms would be as good as youtube is, and be suitable as a replcement/extension.
I use youtube a lot but I am not "married" to it (that makes more sense when you say that in german but I think you get what I mean).
And I would watch the video on any other platform as well. Most important is that the content creators get a fair share of the amount the platform makes from ads.

Where is that smoke coming from?

If that's the case then half the prominent Youtubers would be taken down.

I doubt a human was ever involved, except to write the automated code.

Anyway, it's magically back up, and I have no idea why.
Account restored, I never had to hit Acknowledge, and no mention of it anywhere ever happening!  :-//
