Yep, this is a scary thing, especially since they will be used more and more against citizens.

"Don't drone me, Bro."

Not sure how I feel about it. I don't like the secrecy of it. I don't like the innocent deaths. But if it's proven to combat terrorism, then good...I guess. Apparently some big terror leaders have been killed by use of drone.

Innocent deaths do happen in war, yes. It's inevitable. But these drones are rather reckless.

I'd love to shoot one of those fuckers out of the sky.  Our police apparently have a few.  Perhaps I should buy a laser pointer.  :-DD

CCD cameras don't suffer from flash blindness. Tracking down that kind behavior would be a good application for a drone.

Yes, we must protect ourselves against terrorists. And the children. Never mind the fact that over, um, at least 26,000 people die every year in US due to lack of health insurance (google it), the death of a few civilians is somehow more important if the act is deliberate rather than foreseeable and preventable. More drones, anyone?

It's the lack of oversight that really scares me with these sorts of programs. As MikeK commented, they're already being used against our own citizens. And I can't help but have this nagging sense that it wouldn't be a huge step for this aspect not only to increase, but even be used domestically in the not too distant future (they already have surveillance drones in the hands of law enforcement).

There is no such thing as "Terrorism threats US/UK etc". It's only "Oil scarcity" and "we don't want to change our shitty way of life".

If you hit a camera with a high power laser you will damage the CCD. Ask Photonvids about the camera's he has destroyed using a laser pointer.
