KVM cabling rj45 to ps/2 adapters - are brands interchangeable?

Hi,

Does anyone know if the various Lindy, Aten, Avocent etc rj45 to ps2/vga adapters are interchangeable between brands?

Just got a good deal on a Lindy 32 port KVM and then nearly died at how much each adapter costs.

There are other brands to be had at 7x less the cost.

Wondering if anyone can share their experiences?

From what I've seen, there are common 'standards' but not across all brands.
You're better having one known good cable set, then shopping around to see if you can match it.
The prices are eye-watering for the OEM cables!
