Current state of battery technology
« on: January 18, 2017, 03:41:49 pm »
I working on a project and I was in need a of a small form factor battery but I was not able to find one. Until I noticed my old my pink NOKIA express music slider phone which I don't used anymore. So I charged it and turns out it still works. It's a BP-5M battery which was used in quite a few models of NOKIA. I still remember as a teenager I would sleep with earplugs in my ear blasting sweet music and when I woke up in the morning it would have lost 1-2 bars of battery which was quite impressive.

Which makes me think we mostly take batteries for granted. I know absolutely nothing about batteries but I use them every day in my projects. So, I have decided to start a discussion on batteries. Anyone working in battery industry or anyone with knowledge on batteries,

where are we today when it comes to batteries? What's the power to weight ratio? How long will it last? How expensive? What are the promising advanced in the fields? What can we expect in the future?
