Stock photo fail. They're using actual engineers.

Not according to Engineers Australia, the other guy is a software engineer  ;D
BTW he is the one that re-wrote the 3D engine in Altium. I was the one who got him the job, the son of a colleague from a former company I worked at. IIRC Altium paid me $2k for the referral  :-+
They had a hard time getting good programmers at the time due to the location of the HQ.

The trades show setup day sounds like when we used to do Telethon on site at the TVW7 Studio.
So many times we were still running cables around, just as the first talent walked in!

"De-rig" was worse, as the stuff that had been done over five days had to be "undone" in one.
One person said "You guys must have so much fun at Telethon!"-----Yeah, right!   >:(

So, there is a region in Argentina called "Resistencia"...
Homer: Kids, there's three ways to do things; the right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way!
Bart: Isn't that the wrong way?
Homer: Yeah, but faster!

I'm kinda surprised that you were allowed to keep the design files and other IP when you left Altium.

Not only that. Next to Resistencia, across the Paraná River, you have Corrientes, which means currents in English.

So, Dave, when can we expect to see your Spanish-language Altium tutorial series on YouTube? :D

I dunno, man. Likeness image use by a company and demanding a fee for it is a thing. Costs you nothing to send a letter. They can ignore you or tell you to bugger off. Or cough up some dollerydoos.

But I would be just glad they didn't find a pic of me holding the iron by the hot bit. #justsayin'

Dave, you've got it all wrong. You need to be holding the hot end of the soldering iron or seemingly measuring random pins with a multimeter.

;-)

Doesn't Altium own the copyright of the original photo? I assume it is from  promotional material. In which case since this school is teaching new Altium qualified designers that then generate additional market demand I would think Altium would be pleased.

Yes.
So even if I wanted to, I couldn't get it taken down on copyright grounds.
Legally there is no way for me to get it taken down short of asking them nicely, or successfully suing them (the school) for some sort of image thing because I'm now a public figure or something and it might imply that I'm endorsing the course.

Yup. I would maybe just send them a short note saying the above if I were you. The fact they used your image may not bother you much in this case, but it could be misleading for future students.
And using this kind of "marketing" practice doesn't look good for a university really.
