Your support will permit us to create remote-controlled robotic climbers that will aid in the efforts of www.rfcx.org (Rainforest Connection) for their team's deployment of Topher White’s solar-powered Forest Protectors.

Rainforest Connection prevents illegal poaching and illegal logging - the #2 cause of Global Warming - by deploying cell phones which listens for the sounds of chainsaws which alert agents who can arrive on the scene in time to interrupt the perpetrators and stop the illegal logging.

The only issue with Rainforest Connection's system is they have to manually install these devices into the trees by climbing them which is a dangerous proposition.

Our devices can climb these trees and with our Kickstarter funding we will develop the ability for our climbers to attach these devices to the trees, eliminating the need for volunteers to have to risk their safety by climbing these trees.

Rainforest Elevator's climbing technology is not limited to trees. It can climb most any manner of column shape, beam, or
pipe; even irregular, curved, or angled ones. Since the payload and scale of our technology can be most any size, our technology has high potential in over 90 additional product categories within over a dozen business verticals.

One of the main ones being temporary venue surveillance. Our devices can be deployed in any venue including sporting events to help prevent any future disasters.

I'm sure the creator has thought about this, but what happens when :-

  a) the battery dies up in the tree
  b) the elevator encounters a knot or branch on the trunk
  c) the wire-rope encounters a hair-vine or other 'binding' entanglement on the journey up or down
  d) others ...

Climbing telephone poles etc is a possibility, which are relatively snag-free, with a traction surface...
The idea is valid, but has been done much more robustly in the past - with chunky articulated snakes as the gripping mechanism

Does the Kickstarter funding include sufficient money to bribe the local law enforcement and judiciary into actually doing something effective when logging is detected?

- What rainforest are you talking about? AFAIK, more than one can be called that, although the Amazon is the most famous one.

- how exactly does your project "help in the prevention of Rainforest deforestation" ?

You had a test run. Can you show any credible third party information, news article, police report of actually catching an illegal lumberjack?

BTW, in Bosnia, they have about 8 million mines, most in forests. That stopped peoples cutting trees quite effectively.
