EE Wanted for Energy Metering project (Melbourne)
« on: October 24, 2022, 07:28:03 am »
Hi All,

New(ish) Melbourne based company looking for an EE all-rounder for product development.

My company 'ONEstage' manufacture a range of power and signal distribution products aimed squarely at the Live Sound/Lighting/Video industry. We do a fair bit in house, but I simply don’t have the time or expertise for this project.

Basically, we are trying to develop an energy meter which can sit on a Modbus (rs485) network and interface with some existing HW. We have a concept and functional block diagram ready, just need someone to help develop the idea and see the project through to completion.

Applicants should have knowledge of STM or AVR, SPI & I2C, RS485 & Modbus. Be Competent in component selection, PCB design and DFM. Ability to write firmware is a plus, but not essential. If you have an EDA of choice that’s great, otherwise we can provide access to Altium.

We would prefer someone in Melbourne (though not essential) who can come into the workshop (Yarraville) on occasion, but your welcome to work from home when and how you want. We are a small team and you will be reporting directly to the owner (me), but you will be expected to collaborate with our mechanical engineer, so an ability to work both collectively and independently is a must.

Rates are negotiable based on skillset & experience. Chartered would be cool, but recent or undergraduates are welcome to apply if you think you’ve got what it takes. We can pay by the hour (on the books with super etc), or if you have an ABN we can pay by invoice. Ongoing work available if you want, but this in not a fulltime equivalent role. It would suit someone looking for a lifestyle job, someone wanting to supplement their day job or an individual looking kick start their small business.

If you’re interested in discussing the role, we can start with a PM and see where we get.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

bonjour à tous

Single phase or three phase? mains V ?

Max power level?

With mains power monitor both safety, regulatory requirements and legal liability must be considered.

Suggest you search a professional electronic engineer as a consultant, location in Australia thus familiar with regulations and compliance

It can be faster and less expensive to use an existing watt sensor module eg  DIN rail

Just the ramblings of an old retired EE

I have a portfolio of proven power analyzer devices.
I can tailor it to suits your requirements.
The end product could be incredible small and cheap thus easy to integrate into your products.
