Lighting assembly systems
« on: December 03, 2019, 02:24:05 am »
Hi all,

I work for an Aussie lighting manufacturer. We are currently doing well with linear LED lighting systems. These are the style of lighting you will see down the centre of the isle in a supermarket, down corridors is commercial spaces, etc.

At heart all of these systems are an aluminium extrusion acting as a shell and carrier for wiring, drivers and other gear, usually with a second "tray" extrusion that mounts inside it. This second tray has LED boards mounted end to end down its length with some sort of diffuser clipped over the LED boards to hide them and prettify the light.

We would like to automate the process of laying down the LED 560mm x 20mm boards and dropping 4 push fix fasteners through them to lock them to the "tray". My background is injection moulding and press tooling, so I have no experience with this sort of automation and have no idea where to start.

Does anyone have some suggestions for companies I should dig into? Automation is one of those areas where the water runs deep, so any hint or hard lessons learned would be appreciated.
