One of these was handed to me yesterday as a dead unit, it also had a needle that stuck at 80% of full scale. The meter needle was tackled first by removing the back of the meter then carefully unclipping the clear plastic front. By slipping a piece of paper underneath the needle it was possible to bend it upwards slightly so that it would travel across all of the scale. When clipping the front back into place make sure that the X2 button lines up with the hole.

The meter was however still dead, no reading on volts, amps or ohms. Eventually it was found that BOTH test leads were open circuit so I'm now waiting for some 1mm silicone wire to arrive so that I can complete the repair.
