My 12,000 service manual archive for download
« on: January 12, 2017, 04:16:50 pm »
I have around 12,000 various manuals for download at http://www.electronicsrevived.com click on Downloads and then "Service Manual Archive"

All I ask in return if you sort out a directory or have a manual that is not there to go to ftp://rdp.electronicsrevived.com and upload the manual there. No exe etc.

Thank you, Riotpack! Are you also interested in test gear service manuals? I have one or two that are unavailable in the hopes of finding a suitable host.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

There is still a lot of sorting to do but anything you want to upload will come in handy for people to access. I might make a torrent file once I have sorted everything out, but it is setup so you can use a program like htttrack and download the entire lot without captchas or any limits.

Is it just me or there is no link to download archive with all at once?
I can share my collection of T&M manuals and docs in return. (160GB).
Not to hijack thread, but I accept contributions too :D.

No manuals, but I can get you all the Asus laptops bios in factory format, this is the one that you can flash a new eeprom with and it will work, but your SN will be 00000000 or 123456789, unless you had node-locked programs the laptop will work just as well.

I copied all 35 gb to my ftp server.

I have a lot of old books (application notes, guides, magazines) , service manuals, schematics , datasheets etc on my ftp server ... here's the link

Code: [Select]
ftp://helpedia.com/pub/temp/

The OP's stuff is in /pub/temp/service_manuals/rdp.electronicsrevived.com

It's anonymous ftp, you can download as much as you want, but anonymous accounts are capped to 1MB/s or something like that.

It's 124,358 Files, 8,390 Folders, 355 GB in total.  ... Server has about 10 TB of bandwidth and i'm only using about 4-6 TB each month.

I posted it on a public forum so I couldn't stop you if you did.

I'd prefer it to not be a link so that it wouldn't be indexed by google so easily ... and because i plan to  move the content around on the ftp server , arrange it differently, some other folder structure, remove duplicates etc ..
broken links really annoy me

Gotcha.  :-+
Didn't overlook the fact that you'd put the link within Code quotes and that's probably a good idea for when I build the list, yeah not as pretty as a link but functional nevertheless.  :)

Thanks.

Thanks mariush - I see you have mirrored my site. I still have a lot of sorting to do such as seperating schematics from repair manuals etc. I was thinking of hosting service manuals for all devices but it seems like a multi terrabyte nightmare. I think I will concentrate on only laptop manuals and schematics and work on quality and ease of use. Hopefully a few of us with servers can host a specific type of manual and sort to make finding easy. My VPS only has about 100GB so I will have to find another site to upload my files to as the collection grows.

Yeah, that's me. I hope it's OK  ... trying to be as "server friendly" as possible. if it affects you in some way please PM me and I'll limit the transfer speeds or do as you suggest.

When it's all transferred i'll make them available on the ftp server for free... i may just do a duplicate search and maybe recompress some of the huge pictures to save some disk space (like 5000x4000 and bigger  pictures that would be half the disk space at 75-80% jpeg quality, practically no visible loss of quality)

It's not a problem at all. In fact, the more mirrors and copies out there the greater chance of it being available to someone in the future. We both have the same method for user access. I don't restrict the number of files someone can download or make people enter captchas per file etc. That way someone can use a program like filezilla or httrack and download the entire collection and have them on hand locally should the need arise. I was just commenting on how I would stick to PC schematics and repair guides in the future as I only have around 100GB of server space at the moment.

The only problem I see is finding the time  to sort all the files into a suitable naming convention so they can be found. I have a ton of PDFs to open rename and move to an appropriate directory.

Actually this could become a great teamwork project. We could make a directory and naming convention and build the empty directories and people could take a few gigs each and sort them. It would easily become the biggest schematic / service manual archive getting into the terabytes . I would buy more server space so there would be a few mirrors.

It would be kind of like

Servicemanuals\laptops\asus
Servicemanuals\testgear\fluke
Schematics\laptops\asus

etc etc - we could zip the archive intro 10gb parts and everyone who wants to help can sort them and upload to a new R/W  ftp or such. Just throwing it out there. What does everyone think??
