Glue Removal From a Connector
« on: July 08, 2016, 04:53:12 pm »
Guys I am trying to remove a connector which is glued to a PCB the connector is coming form a small LCD display unit. What is the best way to remove the glue before de-soldering the connector from the board.

Thank you very much

Looks like ABS to me, try soaking it in acetone.

If it's silicone, go buy some hexamethyldisiloxane ;)

Looks suspicoiusly like hot melt glue to me. Try to just solder through it.

Hot melt glue. A drop of alcohol (IPA) will do the magic.

The little-known secret of service: hot-melt just falls off in the presence of isopropyl. Quite a surprise.
