CPU instruction decoding with HP logic analyzer
« on: February 21, 2019, 01:42:17 am »
I have an HP 1631d analyzer. I know it can be made to decode CPUs (in my case 6502). I'm just no sure what the steps/purchases needed are.

I'm also looking at HP 166x and 167x analyzers. Is it easier to get what I want from them?

To be clear, what I would like is to be able to see opcodes instead of HEX. Obviously I can figure this out manually, so the luxury of having it decoded automatically needs to be inexpensive!

Dang, looks like a pain in the ass! Is there no simple GPIB to USB trick? How modern an analyzer do you need before  this becomes simpler to do? Maybe the long discussion made it look tougher than it is
