very low powered power source

Hi,

Recently I've got myself a classic very low powered power source labeled Kikusui DPSV10-005,
It's "digital programmable power source", handling +/- 10v, with output capability of 50mA (haven't tested it).
I am wondering what application does this thing have. I've got it for 10 bucks, so well.. just curious.
I wonder if I could tamper and get higher amp out of this thing.
