894129 works !
OK, I believe it's better not to mess with the calibration here.

There is a "service function" field, you probably enter a number (or ID) I will check  the  service manuals later.
For my more immediate problem, nothing related to the options (a kind of reset...) here.
.
MANY THANKS
again for your help !! :-+ :-+

OK, some news :
with the service menu enabled, you get a two things :
  • You get a "remove all options" button next to the "add option" button.
  • The WinNT files are not anymore read-only
  • you access the service menus described in the service manuals[\li]
I removed( renamed) the "options.ini" file in the hope it would be rebuilt to some defaults, but it didnt't happen. But the "erase all options" did exactly that.
Now, options are maintained between reboots

The option menu allows you to set the exact model (ZVR, ZVC, etc) and some other options (installed attenuators).
For example, ZVR is menu code 1.0.0.3

It works instantly, the INFO showing a ZVR model, but for some reason this was lost between reboots and the VNA was still restarting as a ZVRE
Strangely, after I left the VNA switched OFF for 15 minutes or so, it restarted as a ZVR. ???

The bad thing is that I'm afraid I've lost one of the detector calibration files (including the backup) while exploring the menus the first time I opened the service menu.
But this is another story...

I've ordered a CF card and an adapter, but it's a bit late...

OMG ! The ZVR HDD is buried deep inside this 30kg beast !

I expected a big 3.5' drive, for no special reason.
It's in fact a tiny 2.5' laptop drive.

This one  is labeled  "WIN NT for ZVR2/ZVC2/ZVM/ZVK", a Fujitsu MHH2048BAT, manufacturing date December 1999.
This would make my ZVR born in this century, year 2000 ?

BTW, is there a way to know the age of a R&S equipment, maybe based on the serial number ?

I don't think that's possible in those. In newer devices you can do a good guesstimate.

I let my ZVR alone, partly disassembled until I get everything to duplicate the disk proceed with the Compact Flash conversion (tomorrow, I think).

Regarding the Options : something is not clear for me :

if I understancde correctly the paper describing the "Time Domain" option on the R&S website :

https://www.rohde-schwarz.com/us/applications/time-domain-measurements-using-vector-network-analyzer-r-s-zvr-application-note_56280-15758.html

enabling the option should unlock a [TIME DOMAIN] button under the "MODE" menu ("MODE" key on the ZVR front panel).

I've not seen that button, although other options create new buttons here, like "4 Ports measurements" or "Non linear measurements".

Does it mean that the firmware should be upgraded ?
Or maybe some files have to be moved on the HDD to be found by the transputer code ?
I can't find information (or any hints) in the manual or the R&S website, and I'm a bit lost here...

(If I remember correctly, the firmware version is 3.22.)

I checked my FSP30 that already has many options. It just misses the K30 Noise Figure and Gain Measurements and / or K40 Phase Noise Measurements.
All keys generated are exactly as the preinstalled ones, so I guess the two keys should work too. But both keys are rejected.

Is there something additional needed or does it have to be in a service mode to accept new keys?

Hi,

Can someone please generate the optionsKey for the FSH with SN:105336?
The keys I've generated are incorrect.

Thank you very much.

Oh, sorry, for a FSH3

edit:
I managed to do it with the linked online keygen.
https://rohde.nonexistent.ca/

FSH K7 is K11 on FSEx ?
FSH B1 is B5 on FSEx
FSH K2 is ESI on FSEx
FSH K1 is Kxx on FSEx
FSH K3 is FSQ on FSEx
FSH K60 is K20 on FSEx ?
FSH K15 is K21 on FSEx ?

While digging through the Appl. notes and manuals I stumbled unto the ZVR-K9 Option, which requires a seperate installation to be used.

https://scdn.rohde-schwarz.com/ur/pws/dl_downloads/dl_common_library/dl_manuals/dl_user_manual/ZVR_K9_OperatingManual_en.pdf
Page 8 in the PDF:

Installation
The software option ZVR-K9 is supplied on two installation disks. For an installation on a ZVR, the key
code number, which can be found on the sheet “software installation”, is additionally required. You may
also obtain this number from your R&S representative.

And some additional setup is also needed, Page 7:

Important Note:
If ZVR-K9 runs under Windows 3.1, the files
D:\RUNTIME\RSIB\RSlB.DLL and
D:\RUNTIME\RSIB\RSDDE.DLL
must be copied to the directory
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
before starting the application for the first time!

As the Appl. note for the B2 option doesn't really specify how it is installed, maybe it is similar to the K9?  :-//

I've been thinking of picking up a ZVR from a local and if I do I'd be more than happy to help with testing codes. The HDD was already replaced with a flash so making a backup shouldn't take too long. The model that wouldn't make my wallet cry doesn't come with any software options or codes for reverse engineering though.
It would be seriously amazing to get a ZVx keygen up and running!

Doesn't the ZVR use the keygen from FSex/FSIQ?

I have successfully enabled options on my FSH3-03 with firmware 6.0, SN 1014xx. First I updated the firmware to 14.0 (latest), then I used the script. There were no problems.
ADDED: The battery inside my FSH3 is disconnected. After disconnecting the power supply and connecting it back - the options are gone (not installed) My options live until the power supply is connected. It cannot be that they are not stored in non-volatile memory. Very strange. UPD2: Yes, the options are reset along with the clock and settings. So they are stored in the CMOS memory. It's funny that the saved spectrograms are stored in EEPROM))
For updating, I used the Fluke PM9080 cable. It's definitely a Chinese copy (low quality plastic), but it fits well and works correctly in Windows 10. $44 + shipping.
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.7eed2e8dDbZOFu&id=549550337853&_u=c2jnfgou9e2f
R&S FSH-Z37 =  Fluke PM9080 USB optical cable.

UPD: The board inside is very good, maybe it's not a copy or a very good copy.

Last week I got my FSH3 with tracking (older, software 13.1), with a very tired akku. So i swapped it to a fresh akku without loosing the K2 option what is legal registered in the FSH3.
There must be a large cap what can feed the memory in the time the batterie will be changed.
I would be interested to an option K3 receiver, but not for 845€

Hello everyone,

New guy here, I recently joined a new position at work and one of the first things they are asking is to help enable some features in a couple of SFE100. Called R&S and they no longer support this product, no wonder they asked me to help with this  :-DD. I'm new to all of this, so not the sharpest tool in the shed on this topic. Regardless I would appreciate some help, I did spend time reading through the posts and looked at the Keygen link but it doesn't look like it applies to what I need, at least it does not show K193. Looking to enable analog ATV-M/N (K193) on 2 different units, by looking in settings it says no hardware is needed for this option.

Summary
Unit SFE100
Need to activate ATV-M/N (K193)
Unit is looking for OPTION KEY and RESPONSE

Can someone point me on the right direction please, thank you all in advance.

Has anyone here ever dealt with the SMB 100A?

I have the 1.1GHz version. However, the RF frontend looks more like it could work up to 3GHz or even 6GHz?
