Mehdi from Electroboom is making a non-trivial income from his shorts. 200M views so far. But he's got the kind of a content that appeals to Joe Average.
But yes, the idea is general channel engagement and potential algorithm boosting.
Ok, well that seems inconsistent with what 8 bit guy said in a video about YouTube,
which has at least been interpreted by me, as meaning there's no DIRECT income from shorts.
PS you are the man to instantly start shouting at the camera without any useless introductions and draw ppl in with enthusiasm,
but you couldn't AI or outsource it. I really think they would need production.
