We are a very small electronics manufacturing company looking for a competent person to do occassional work on our Magento 1.x online shop.
Also useful is linux expertise because very occassionally something on the server needs looking at. However I do have a good linux contractor who can manage that.
The site runs on a good quality virtual hosting so there are regular backups.
The problem is this:
a) Everybody I've come across wants to achieve a £xxx monthly billing. We are a very small business and just want to pay for work done.
b) We don't want to upgrade to Magento 2; the claimed security improvements seem illusory on an open source PHP app
where CC processing is done externally anyway (we use Paypal).
c) We pay google for adwords and have got fingers burnt by another firm who said they would generate way more business if we pay them £xxx/month instead. Lots of people say this.
Currently we have Royal Mail Click & Drop integration and every order gets sent to the C&D website regardless of which shipping method customer has specified. This seems crude but works ok. We just delete from C&D orders which got sent by say Fedex. Magento 2 is interesting because it seems to integrate shipping by Fedex... but Magento people say M1 to M2 is £10k plus, which I find hard to believe.
