Dalton Electrical is one of New Zealand's largest industrial electrical contracting companies. We employ over 100 staff and have grown substantially - even throughout the era of Covid.

Our engineering team is comprised of 18 (and counting) engineers and technicians who cover Industrial automation and SCADA development, electronics, instrumentation and process control, machine safety, hazardous areas services, industrial IT, and electrical engineering etc.

Opportunity
This opportunity is for someone with a real aptitude for electronic fault finding as well as problem solving skills for software and embedded systems.
This is offered as a technician role with involvement in engineering. The workload is as varied as you could hope for!

Tasks

Your tasks will be varied but include the following examples:
Fault finding of industrial machines and automated equipment
Component level electronic diagnostics and repair
Repair and rebuild Industrial HMI/PCs
Collaborate with international OEMs for machine fault finding
AC and DC Motor Drive diagnostics and repair
Specification of drive replacements and commissioning.

There are opportunities for involvement in the broader scope of engineering activities with workload fluctuations and as candidate interest/aptitude affords.

Skills

The successful candidate will be good with their hands and with their head but as a minimum they will have:

A healthy curiosity with the way things work
Excellent problem-solving skills
Proficient in the use of hand and basic power tools
Excellent verbal communication
Strong computer skills
New Zealand driver license
New Zealand residency or work visa
Academic

The academic requirements for this role may be met with any of the following:

An NZ Registered electrician (preferably from an industrial background) OR

A tertiary qualification at a minimum of diploma level in a relevant field from the STEM careers. Electrical registration preferred but we can support the right candidate through this process
NCEA Level 2/3 STEM credits (or equivalent) are desirable
Any relevant skills, training, qualifications, and certifications will be considered.
