I'm not massively far from Brizzle, and I know someone who is in Bristol who uses KC.

Why do you need someone specifically in that area?

I wasn't so much correcting your mistake as making a terribly clever pun. Or so I thought. ;)
I see what you did there...

Wilksey,
Thank you for reply
Well Im between Cardiff and Newport and I have alkways found the ideal way to get fast and down a good path ie not get in a tangle is for me to tutor someone thro either as beginner intermediate or advanced in what I do.
Also with a person who has experience you get up and running in a system which you know will deliver what I am looking for and not wast time money and effort in the wrong duirection.
I hope that explains.

Well, good luck on your quest!

If all else fails, you could try looking here:
http://kicad-pcb.org/help/tutorials/ (http://kicad-pcb.org/help/tutorials/)

I would recommend Chris Gammells tutorials, he also runs a course at Contextual Electronics.

I find it quite easy / minimalistic to go between different packages, once you learn how each one calls certain things (terminology) and spend a few hours with the menu's and building test schematics / pcb designs, I know not everyone does, and I think if I was starting out from afresh that Chris' tutorials are some of the better ones.

Thank You so much WILKSEY kind of you to reply.
Please as you said you knew a person in Bristol using KICAD could you pass my request to him/her as I need to get on with catching up with a wast of several months and get some boards made up.
I for many years was in Electronic research until retirement so have designed a number of security circuits for my own use very simple really but do the job that no other eqquip does.
I want now to make up several diags into units to porovide security for my own possessions and property.

I have had a time waster who hed not a clue in the production of the gerber files. So that is what I want to do.
It is so cheap to get the actual FR4 boards etched with quality these days, so im up for some fun.
Thanks if you know that person.
There must be someone using KICAD about that I can pick the brains of so lets hope.. Best wishes

There is a fine line between not wasting your time (going down blind alleys) and not wasting another person's time (RTFM syndrome).

If you are paying for someone's time, that's fine. If they are giving their time free, they are more likely to do it if there is evidence you have done as much as possible on your own, and are presenting them with interesting problems.

TGGZZZ Thank you I fully agree with your literary explanation.
I have since the 70's served on many bodies and given up a considerable amount of time whether it be Amateur Radio before I spent many years in Acedemia and industry here and abroad. Outside the lab I have always provided assistance without charge especially in the Amateur Radio World and interesting it was tooooo!
I no longer can just pass a design top an employee to produce a gerber file or deliver in a couple of hours a pcb.
So I must find the simplest way to produce what is required for fun.
Anyway I looked found what program output would be acceptable and landed on KICAD
now I must not get into self taught bad habits by starting blind.
that was the reson for my request.

Would be your best bet, especially for "hands on".
