Arranging components along x-axis by number
« on: January 31, 2014, 06:04:48 pm »
I've been using KiCAD for a while and the most annoying thing to do is arrange components on the board according to number, especially with boards that have a ton of the same component that need to be in specific places. With the "Glob move all components" function it does simplify the process a bit, but it seems to organize the components only by type -- it doesn't order them according to annotation number (C1, C2, C3, etc.). If the developers could add in this function it would be great.

I'm currently using:
Application: Pcbnew
Version: (2013-07-07 BZR 4022)-stable
Build: wxWidgets 2.9.4 (wchar_t,compiler with C++ ABI 1002,GCC 4.7.2,wx containers,compatible with 2.8)
Platform: Windows 7 (build 7601, Service Pack 1), 32 bit, Little endian, wxMSW
Boost version: 1.53.0
Options: USE_PCBNEW_NANOMETRES=ON
         KICAD_GOST=OFF
         USE_WX_GRAPHICS_CONTEXT=OFF
         USE_WX_OVERLAY=OFF
         KICAD_SCRIPTING=OFF
         KICAD_SCRIPTING_MODULES=OFF
         KICAD_SCRIPTING_WXPYTHON=OFF
