Title: Building Kicad from source
Post by: GiskardReventlov on March 10, 2014, 11:16:57 pm
I tried to build kicad from source but ran into a problem. I built wxWidgets statically and kicad build failed when it couldn't find wxwidgets3/lib/libwx_gtk2u_aui-3.0.a  (maybe not exact but close enough) while trying to build cvpcb.
I'm thinking that wx3 is too new, I may retry with wx28.  I rebuilt wx3 many times trying to coerce it into making that missing library but had no success.  The other .a libs are there.

I'm not in a bind or anything, I just want to look at one of these pcb programs.

Platform?

Does it matter? If so, how so?

If you just want to try Kicad then you can download a binary.

Which are admittedly hard to find.

Hence the need to know what platform.

Yeah, I know there are binaries. My interest in looking at Kicad is mild and I'll revisit it again some other time.
