Create a complex symbol, with schematic
« on: January 17, 2021, 01:42:19 pm »
Hi.
I never used kicad and I don't know whether this is possible.
I know how to create a new symbol/symbol library and succeeded in doing it; what I would like to do now is to create a component that is made by other components (conceptually the same that is done while creating an IC from discrete parts). This will make my design way easier since I have some repeating blocks.

Can it be done? Can you please help me doing it?

Cheers

This kicad forum discussion from 2018 might be a starting point:

What would you want to achieve with that? Do you need that for simulation?
Everybody likes gadgets. Until they try to make them.

It is not 100% clear what you are asking so there might be a language barrier

since I have some repeating blocks.

You use hierarchical sheets, where repeated block point to the same schematic file for the hierarchical sheet.

For a symbol you can have multiple units and copy and paste them to duplicate.
