Title: Creating filled zones for thermal pads.
Post by: cbowen on June 09, 2019, 10:34:09 pm
Hey all. I've created a footprint for a SM LED that has 2 anode and two diode pads on each one. It also has a thermal pad on the middle underneath it, which I created as "pad 5". The problem is, when doing filled zone, I can't seem to find a way to select zone 5 as the net. I'm guessing this is because this pad has no traces connected to it. How would I go about getting pad 5 connected to the filled zone? Thanks everyone!

Check datasheet, where you can connect it. Usually ground. And then you will be able to create zone

If you cannot connect the pad to ground, just make up a net name for it to connect to and use it for the copper fill.
