Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I copy part of one schematic and paste it to a different schematic?
It seems like that should be simple to do, but I don't see how.
Thanks,
Tom

That's KiCad by-the-way...

Right Click, Select block, Copy Block.
PAIN IN THE ASS!

Right, I see the "copy" part, but how to do the "paste" part? The past options disappear in the next schematic.
Thanks,

From memory after you have done the copy. Close the schematic and then open the one you want to paste into.

There's no "paste"option that i see.
There is no menu option or right click paste option. Here a pic of the hot key options--no paste:

Important.
It is 'Save Block' not copy block.
Then to paste it into the new schematic it is the icon toolbar button that looks like a clipboard 8th from the right. Called paste.
I must admit this is shocking UI.
Every button should at least be in the menu.

It Works! Thanks for that. :-+
It must be the translation from French or something that causes that confusion. :)
Cheers!

It's on the KiCAD 'to do' list to fix.

Correction, it is on CERN's 'to do' list. Remember that the CERN roadmap is not the official one. The kicad official one is http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~kicad-product-committers/kicad/product/view/head:/Documentation/development/road-map.md (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~kicad-product-committers/kicad/product/view/head:/Documentation/development/road-map.md)

Well, as I understand, there's no such thing as separate CERN roadmap anymore, all the devs abide by the same project rules: https://lists.launchpad.net/kicad-developers/msg14461.html (https://lists.launchpad.net/kicad-developers/msg14461.html)

A hard way:
I did it like this with Kicad-4.0.2-stable (MacOSX)
1. create a blank hierarchical sheet in current schematic
2. enter into the sheet
3. append the schematic which you want to copy from
4. copy
4.1 select the block you want to copy
4.2 Command + C to copy the block (if succeeded, a PASTE icon is highlighted in toolbar)
5. leave the hierarchical sheet back to the schematic you want to copy to
6. click the PASTE icon in the toolbar
7. delete the hierarchical sheet

Ida this something KiCad developers area interested it? What is their priority? Are there blockers to achieve it?
