Title: Kicad 9 EM simulation
Post by: metebalci on February 19, 2024, 07:41:42 am
I didnt watch the whole talk at FOSDEM yet but it looks like the slides in the video does not show the slide 50 in pdf (https://fosdem.org/2024/events/attachments/fosdem-2024-1709-kicad-status-update/slides/22615/FOSDEM-2024_SDlLRjz.pdf) which lists EM simulation as a Kicad 9 misc feature.

Do you know if this is certain and coming to 9 ? and actually my actual question is, is EM simulation often performed in high freq designs or is it something rare ?

It's more of a wishlist item. The biggest issue is all the open source FEM libraries which are _proven_ are written by US and European national labs that take masochistic pride in using as much Fortran, python and C glued together which makes cross-platform deployment an absolute nightmare.
