So, I've set up a lib of all my custom components in Google Drive.
Never used to have a problem, now suddenly I get issues with files being read only.
Not sure how i can stop this from being an issue.
It's doing my head in!

How exactly does this issue show itself? ie. what error message do you get.

In the top bar of the software, the file name is given also with '(READ ONLY)'
and in attempt to save under the same name, it flat out says no.
I've also had a lot of crashes with the footprint creation tool.

Are you on Windows?

Can't believe I forgot to mention that. |O
Sure am. :(
All my other files in the google drive are fine to open / edit (schematics, pcb etc.)
however, the footprint doesn't like working.

Turn Google Drive syncing off when working in KiCad. There might be a file contention issue where KiCad is modifying a file and Google is grabbing it to sync it.

Yes, seems to be the case, cheers for the help. It's just weird as it previously was never an issue.
