Does anyone have a better idea maybe?

Not a better idea, sorry, but I would caution against changing what someone wrote. There would need to be at least a mod comment and preferably complete removal rather than a change to the new domain. Perhaps leaving the original intact and appending a mod comment that the new domain supercedes the original might be the best approach.
