Missing pads on bottom side
« on: March 02, 2023, 09:00:08 pm »
Hello all,

I started working on a project that I received from other engineer. It was designed few years ago with older version of KiCAD. After importing it I can't see pads on the bottom layer of the board (3D design looks good on the bottom side). Top side is good and I can see all pads.

I have tested this with KiCAD6 and KiCAD7 and I get the same result. It looks like somehow pads on the bottom are disabled. When I select the part I can see the pads but as soon as I release the part the pads disappear.

Does anyone have an idea what could be an issue ?

Thanks,

Edit1:
Also, bottoms silkscreen is missing but I can see it on the 3D model. It seems that everything related to bottom layer is missing.

Edit2:
When I select the part and flip it to top side it appears normal and I can see the pads.

There is not much to deduce from reporting you can't see something.

If you zip up the project and post it here, then others can have a look at it to determine what is going on.

Are you sure the bottom layers are just not invisible, from the appearance toolbar?

Thanks, this was the case. I am only using KiCAD for past 3 months (previously used Eagle CAD) and I wasn't aware that KiCAD had this feature. I enabled it bottom layer and it works perfectly.
