RF tools plugin for KiCad
« on: October 14, 2019, 08:36:23 am »
Hi,

found this in my Youtube recommendations this morning, looks interesting:

This is the github link:
https://github.com/easyw/RF-tools-KiCAD

Has anyone here come across this already and maybe used it in a project?

seen it discussed over on kicad's forum, mostly its substituting out traces for footprints with the shape of a trace, you could already build very complex footprint pad shapes in kicad, this tool automates that for specific things,

V6 will have most of this geometry available for traces out of the box, this is a nice workaround for now that should be fine to use,

No footprints involved, as far as I can see. Regular traces all along. It worked quite well for me. I used corner rounding, soldermask expansion and the via fence generator in a small project, worked very nicely.
