1W/3W "bead LEDs - what was the original part

So a customer wants to use the "bead" leds in their design. Those that like like this (image from google):


They can be had for cheap from god knows how many chinese vendors and manufacturers, but I want to know who did they clone. I suppose this was at some point in time a product from Lumileds, Cree or somebody like that.

Can anyone point me in a direction of documentation of the original part?
