Fixed 20X magnification is too much for SMD work.

Yes, perhaps this is why they are on special. 10X would be nice & even 6X for much SMD work is satisfactory.

The 2X objective is fine.  It is mostly the objective that determines resolution.  The oculars (10X) define the total magnification and 10X is very common for such optics, perhaps the most common.

The working distance and field of view (determined by the objective) are the most important metrics.
