Your experiences with any Melbourne/Aust PCB assemblers ?
« on: July 01, 2015, 08:16:45 am »
Hello

I'm looking for a local pcb assembler who can handle fine pitch smd components down to 0402 and QFP's with 176 pins and 0.5mm pitch spacing etc. What are peoples experience with pcb assemblers in Melbourne or other parts of Australia or did you just bite the bullet and go to china ? If so what are your experiences with chinese assemblers ?

cheers

What sort of quantity.  1/10/100/1000?
Greek letter 'Psi' (not Pounds per Square Inch)

Snoopy,

We are in Brisbane but otherwise set up to support PCB prototyping requirements and low volume SMD assembly.

If You are interested in what we can do send us Your pick and place file and top layer gerbers or jpg/bmp file and we will respond with an offer.

I use Soltronico for my uCurrents
NSW north coast.

They can do those small volumes no problems.

Dave,

We have an M10V pick an place, small benchtop machine with dual camera setup, auto feeders as well as capable of handling cut tape from fixed feeders.

http://www.mechatronika.com.pl/content/view/36/3/lang,en/

Ideal for low volume production .

We have a GF12 hot air convection oven capable of processing lead free solder.

Presently working on a vapor phase reflow oven.  https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/vapour-phase-soldering/msg687984/#msg687984

In addition we also have a frameless stencil printer needing only the stencil sheet.

Dave yes You are right... our website does not reflect our current situation.

Yes I noticed that your website didn't have much in the way of equipment on it.

Do you have any pictures of boards you have already done ?

regards

Snoopy,

A couple of images of a four layer board showing a wide diversity of components.

Ok that was my next question was whether or not can you can do components on both sides but you obviously can ;)

Do you need a support frame around the pcb in order to mount on your pick and place machine ?

Also what sort of price would you charge to load a board like this ?

cheers

Machine PCB holder calls for no frame.

Let me qualify that:

assuming two parallel sides then no component may be closer than 4 mm to the parallel holding sides on the solder side and no component ought to be closer than 1 mm on the component side.
