The small nozzles for my pick and place (UIC) are only ceramic, but the larger sizes (0603 and up) are available in ceramic, steel or compliant. What is the reason to go for one over the other?

Both of the machines I have owned Philips (Yamaha) and Quad (Samsung) had steel nozzles that lasted well for the entire time I had them. Ceramic nozzles might be prone to breakage if a part gets picked sideways. Both machines did have compliance built into the nozzle holder assembly.
