Title: Home made pcb drill station
Post by: IanJ on June 13, 2012, 06:52:13 pm
Hi all,

I had an old motor, plastic motor housing and an old Clarke drill press........so after shimming up the clearance on the press to get rid of all unnecessary lateral movement, cutting it down to size, weakening the spring.........I've ended up with this.

It's obviously not as finger tip nice as my old Oryx drill, but I hope the idea inspires others that there are ways to keep things cheap.

Nice work.

The only thing that looks old is the motor, the other stuff looks like new !

The press is definitely old (albeit clean looking).......had to weld up some cracks before it could be used.....not so easy seeing as how it's metal cast. Not strong enough for it's proper use, but fine for PCB's.

It looks great Ian however if I were doing it I would put an air cylinder on it and a foot operated valve. Actually I think I might build one maybe.
