How are vias manufactured?
(1/1)

Hello, I have been searching Google and can't find any info on how vias are created on a PCB when manufacturing. I 'm really curious on how they do it. Does anyone know?
AndyC_772:
Drill hole, electro-plate with copper.
nanofrog:
They drill the hole, use conductive ink inside the hole, then electroplate a copper.
There are also copper and brass rivets made for this that might be more usable/easier at home vs. electroplating (no additional chemistry to deal with anyway) . Examples: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=pcb+rivet

See this: http://www.eurocircuits.com/index.php/making-a-pcb-eductional-movies
In particular from "Drilling the PCB" and onwards... each section has a dedicated page with a video showing the actual process, very easy to understand.

Thank you so much guys, everything is clear now!
