JLCPCB (confusion with PIMETA2 headphone amp)
« on: September 27, 2022, 04:15:13 pm »
I can't seem to get a straight answer from JLCPCB as to whether they can successfully produce this PCB form me.
The project is the Pimeta2 headphone amp. And the Eagle files are all in a ZIP file, here:

https://tangentsoft.net/audio/pimeta2/dfiles.html

I can import this ZIP file into JLCPCB. And the various Gerber Views look okay.

However, below are my Analysis Results.

BOTTOM LINE: Am I going get a working PCB from JLCPCB. (I have dealt with them before, with a much simpler project. It had some Analysis issues, too. I created a thread here on EEVBlog about it in 2020. I did get a successful product from JLCPCB.)

It is a 4 layer PCB with non-standard gerber file naming - but the linked website states what all the file layers are.
So when prompted by the JLC website you should be able to select the right layer for each file and it will likely then be able to detect file.

You could also create a new ZIP file with the files renamed using the file extensions recognised by JLCPCB automation.
https://support.jlcpcb.com/article/29-suggested-naming-patterns

Being 4 layers you will need to select a stackup in addition the PCB thickness, but for a headphone amp I don't imagine that trace impedance will be critical.

Thx!
But submitted AS IS, will JLCPCB be able to give me a working board?

No idea.  I guess you find out soon... but more likely one of their engineers will query the gerbers naming.

I need to make another PCB from the same Tangentsoft site:

https://tangentsoft.net/audio/ppa/amp2/

Note: Download the PPA ExpressPCB Design Files (link on above page)

JLCPCB does supposedly upload 100% (and I do see the add to cart and price) But I cannot see the Viewer or Analysis Results page.

How does one import an  ExpressPCB zip file into JLCPCB?

Yeah… and you pay for the “Express “ service, too. I assume there’s no converter to Gerber tool??
